People

People power. It is people who have the power to change behaviour, raise awareness and initiate positive action. Our aim is to contribute to creating healthy, vibrant communities and encourage participation in managing our environmental assets from all corners of our community.

Our People portfolio has three key focus areas:

Aboriginal Program. Our Aboriginal program relies on strong links with the six Traditional Custodian Groups in the Condamine catchment. By working together we can ensure Aboriginal people are empowered to play an active role and have strong voice in decisions in environmental management in our region.

Community Program. Our community program seeks to raise awareness of environmental issues, encourage people to take positive action in their community and develop knowledge and skills to make change possible. We reach out to young people through our Condamine Crusaders schools program and offer mentoring opportunities for young farmers and rural decision makers to connect with industry professionals.

Science Program. Our science program works across our organisation to ensure the highest level is science, monitoring and evaluation is considered throughout our work. Our projects are designed using the high level knowledge available both inhouse and from our partners who are leaders in their field.

Condamine Crusaders. Condamine Crusaders are high school students caring for our environment. They engage with their community to create and promote local solutions to help protect the environment, starting in their school. Their efforts and enthusiasm has led to some outstanding results!
